Multiple Ahmadi Muslim homes and at least one shop were set ablaze by attackers
On 28 September 2025, a violent mob launched a premeditated and devastating attack on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Piro Chak, District Sialkot, Punjab. The incident followed rising tensions after the obstruction of an Ahmadi woman’s burial earlier that month.
According to eyewitness accounts, members of the community were first harassed and then physically assaulted. A mob opened fire on Ahmadi Muslims, seriously injuring one individual, while others were savagely beaten. At least five individuals sustained serious injuries. The attackers then proceeded to torch five homes and one shop, as well as a car, tractor, and cargo van belonging to members of the community.

The mob descended on the village under the guise of a “protest,” issuing threats of death and property seizure unless Ahmadi Muslims vacated their homes. Facing imminent danger, dozens of families fled, abandoning their homes, livelihoods, and belongings. Eyewitness accounts describe terrified women and children escaping in the dead of night, as their homes were engulfed in flames.

The aftermath of the attacks.
The tragedy in Piro Chak is yet another stark reminder of the vulnerability of Pakistan’s Ahmadi Muslims, despite their decades-long loyalty to the nation.
This is not just a breach of law and order, but of Pakistan’s constitutional and international human rights obligations.
