Three Ahmadi Muslims in Rabwah, Pakistan arrested on grounds of faith.

On Monday 5 December 2016, more than two dozen armed counter-terrorism police entered the premises of the publications office of Tehrik Jadeed in Rabwah, Punjab without any warrants and arrested three innocent workers.

The masked officers entered from main gate and went to Publications Department on first floor of the building. Those inside the offices were then ordered outside to sit down or lay down on the floor.

Police seized laptops, computers, mobile phones, and several books of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community and then arrested three Ahmadis despite no evidence of any illegal activity.

The police forced through locked doors and entered the CCTV control room on top floor, where they tortured Mr Rana Irfan Ahmad who was on duty. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment. During the raid police also removed cables from cameras thereby disabling them.

The shocking raid is the latest in the state-sponsored persecution of Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan that has spanned more than 40 years. The laws have been exploited by extremists resulting in the murder of hundreds of Ahmadi Muslims simply on grounds of faith. In Punjab the Government has banned the literature of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in a move that has no justification whatsoever.
